Gokaiger 47 – Fabulous Basco the Finale I

Boom baby.

Because I forgot how many times Basco appeared! In this episode, Ahim suggested to Marvelous to just call Basco so that they can get the 5 great powers that in his possession... which Marvy did. Turns out that Basco is just waiting for their move before he does his attack! Now that Basco has ran out of Droids, it is time for him to sacrifice his final pawn, Sally. With the injured Sally on board the Galleon because of her injury, what will Basco do? Is Sally being injured part of his plan?

Having an opening mecha fight scene was a good decision. Because for starters, this is the first part of the Basco finale. The decision to use Sally as Basco's final resort was actually obvious from the beginning since he doesn't have anymore resources since his pirate status was returned weeks ago. But what surprised me is that Basco actually shoot Sally to the point that he nearly killed her! This leads us to this, turns out that it was Basco’s plan all along! He used Sally as bait so that she can steal all the Ranger Keys and give it to Basco!

The first part of this epic Basco conclusion is not about Basco, but it is about Sally. Prior to this episode, I have no respect for Sally because for starters, she is just an annoying ape whose only purpose is to give Basco some monsters. But during the course of the episode, we finally saw the other side of her, turns out that she was thinking all this time in regards to how Basco treat her. At the end, she made a decision to help Marvelous and fight against Basco.

This leads us to this, Basco deciding to kill off Sally using a bomb that he placed on Sally’s good luck charm. It turns out that it is just another of his plans, to distract the Gokaigers with Sally and to later rob the Galleon after he beats the Gokaigers. To be honest, I was expecting a redemption scene in this story arc that Basco wants the Greatest Treasure of the Entire Universe for the sake of some greater good, but nope, this scene alone summarizes his intentions for the treasure. He is indeed willing to sacrifice one of his best parters for the sake of obtaining the said treasure.

This episode also has a fair amount on the relationship between Marvelous and Basco prior to Basco's betrayal, turns out that the two are close to each other. The episode also focused on Marvelous' character, even if he knew that Sally is just one of Basco's traps and sooner, she will steal the Ranger Keys, he just let her on board the Galleon since he is aware that Basco will betray her once he gets all the Ranger Keys. More on Marvelous in this episode, I was amazed that he was willing to risk his life for the sake of Sally.

Anyways, more on Basco in this episode, turns out that during the time he fought the Gokaigers post the Ohranger tribute, he was just holding back much of his power because he just wants the Gokaigers to collect more great powers for him. As seen in this episode, it took the Gokaigers three Gokai Changes just to fight Basco! Speaking of which, I was impressed with the use of the Dairanger fights, the Gokaigers were able to use each Dairanger's individual techniques just to beat him before transforming into the Hurricanegers and Gingamen only to end up being defeated again by Basco. At the end of the episode, Basco took possession of the Galleon, the Ranger Keys and Navi as the Gokaigers lie unconscious thanks to Basco. Can the Gokaigers retrieve the Galleon and defeat Basco? Also, what is Navi's purpose in this series on why Basco needs him?
