Gokaiger 48 – Fabulous Basco the Finale II

Basco's new crib... well, sorta.

Now that Basco has the possession of the Gokai Galleon, all of the Ranger Keys and Navi, what will our heroes do? Can they retrieve their very own ship or end up without the help of Marvelous? Also, why is Navi too important that Basco doesn't want her to escape?!

The episode explains why Basco needs Navi even after all 5 Great Super Sentai Powers are collected. Turns out that Navi might be the key to the doorway for the Greatest Treasure of the Entire Universe since as Basco explains, she is an irregular being who ignored the basic rules of Physics, to be more exact, and she doesn't run on any type of power source! And here I was thinking that she is run by solar energy or has this elaborate system that turns biological substances into her energy! Due to her importance, Basco summoned Ranger clones of all six Gokaigers in his trumpet that has five key slots! Wait a minute, how did he summon the sixth one?

Anyways, he summoning Gokaiger clones was not surprising since they are on board the Galleon, what surprised me is Don's reaction when he saw his clone do his pose! Turns out that he is not aware of his pose! More on the Galleon, I was surprised on how elaborate the ship is considering that they were able to fit four individual mechas in a Matryoskha doll like manner, which still surprises me even now. As for the Gokaigers versus their clones, the fights are a bit lackluster, it was a bit mediocre and sometimes, it was boring. To be honest, I was expecting something grand with the out of suit fights since we are talking about the Gokaigers fighting their evil clones summoned by Basco! Granted, I had Don do a couple of his unorthodox fight style, but still, it is lackluster compared to the previous out of suit fights in the series.

Prior to the main duel in this episode, the Gokaigers fought Basco using a couple of Gokai Changes and them using the Gokai Galleon Buster. The all Red Gokai Change fight was good but not that impressive compared to the previous episode. As for the Special Charge of the Gokai Galleon Buster, I was expecting more kick into it since it is labeled as a "Special Charge" but based on how Basco welcomed the attack, it is as strong as the rest of the Charges of the Gokai Galleon Buster. Even with that disappointment with the five other Gokaigers, Marvelous was impressive in this episode, both in fighting and in terms of principle.

The duel between GokaiRed and Basco was amazing. From how they did the wirework until how they did the sword and gun fights. To be honest, it reminded me a bit of ShinkenRed and Juzo's fights in Shinkenger in terms on how well the fights in this episode were choreographed. There are a couple of things that I really liked about this duel, namely the part where they accidentally changed weapons because of the impact caused of one of their attacks that dropped their weapons, forcing GokaiRed to use Basco's sword and Basco using GokaiRed's gun. Another thing that I liked about this episode is GokaiRed's suicide attack were he stabbed his own foot that is on top on Basco's foot just for him to trap the guy and shoot him in point blank range. Seriously, I was stunned when I first saw that scene. What's more is what happened after. Turned out that reason why GokaiRed still survived at the end is because of the lucky charm Basco gave to Sally. If you look at it, it was ironic in a sense that Basco betrayed Sally and just gave her a lucky charm only to kill her and that lucky charm is the one who protected his rival.

Now in terms of morals, before the fight, Basco had this sort of trash talk with Marvelous. In that scene, Basco tells Marvelous what we already know about AkaRed, that he came from this planet and that the Greatest Treasure in the Entire Universe is just bait for them to gather all the Ranger Keys so that AkaRed will return it to its rightful owners aka the past Super Sentai heroes. Even with that revelation, Marvelous just ignored it and that he still believes about the treasure being real. He will trample anyone who comes in their way, whether it is Zangyack, Basco or even AkaRed. That statement alone summarizes Marvelous; he is someone who is willing to do anything just for him to obtain his or their team's dream. He does not care if it might not exist or not, as long as he believes that he can achieve it, he can do it.

Another thing that was brought up in this episode on what they will do with the treasure. I mean come on, we have 47 episodes to talk about it and it is the only time you start thinking on what you guys do about the treasure?! Anyways, I just love that they never had a robot fight in this episode since Basco just falling dead is just one of the best ways to end this episode along with the Gokaigers carrying Marvelous' weak body back to the Galleon. Now that all 34 Super Sentai Powers are gathered with only Zangyack stopping them, what's next for the Gokaigers? What is this Greatest Treasure of the Universe? Is it love? Will it be friendship or some other crap that we are not aware until next episode?
